Karen W. Harden
Karen Harden, a Wyoming native, earned degrees from Casper College and Kansas State University. She was trained at Menninger, a renowned psychological hospital, and pursued a Master's in Counselor Education from the University of Wyoming. Karen developed substance abuse programs at a local mental health agency and worked at Wyoming Recovery, focusing on Transitional Living and family education.
She later started a private practice in Laramie, specializing in substance abuse and mental health. Returning to Casper, she founded Greener Grasses and trained in EMDR, becoming certified and working towards Consultant status. Passionate about mental health since 1995, Karen is dedicated to helping her community achieve their best selves.
Burl Maurer
Burl Maurer is originally from the Atlanta, GA, relocating to Casper 30 years ago. He earned his BA degree in psychology from Kennesaw College in 1984 and a master’s in social work from University of Georgia in 1988. Burl has worked in a variety of behavioral health settings including acute care, residential treatment, and outpatient therapy.
Burl is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Wyoming and has served as a Behavioral Health Faculty for UW Family Medicine Residency and Clinic for over 10 years. He has a special interest in working with adults that struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. He is experienced in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and CBT and currently working on EMDR training. Burl joins Greener Grasses in September 2024 and will be available for appointments in the evenings and weekends.
